notes |
If
it's just the view you want , head straight up the Waldo Mountain
Trail, about three miles and 2,000 vertical feet, to the manned
lookout tower. Here you'll find the view you expected, and more.
The Twins and Maiden Peak are nice backdrops to Waldo Lake,
and Diamond Peak also shines nearby. Return by the same route,
but if you're up for more, by all means continue east down Waldo
Mountain's opposite shoulder to a junction with the Waldo Meadows
Trail. Turn right and walk through the thick meadows, eventually
coming upon a side trail that leads half a mile south to Salmon
Lakes and a nice waterfall near the lower lake. It's about 2.5
miles west back to the car from here. |
