notes |
This
is a good day hike anytime of the year with the length of your
own choosing. The Fall Creek Trail winds 13.7 miles along Fall
Creek but crosses Forest Service Road 18 several times, allowing
shuttle hikes of various lengths from one trailhead to another.
The route, except for a stretch near Bedrock Creek where the
trail climbs steeply to join the Jones Trail, is mostly smooth,
flat, and creekside. You venture through both old-growth and
mature second-growth forest, passing numerous excellent fishing
and swimming holes. The upper portion of the trail which extends
east to Forest Service Road 1833, is more lightly used. This
is a good hike for children, who will find enough nature to
keep them fascinated virtually any time of the year. |
